Irish Sailing is delighted to congratulate Sailing Into Wellness on the special occasion of the official opening of their new headquarters recently in Kinsale. This marks a significant milestone for an organisation whose work continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact within communities across Ireland.
The opening event was attended by Minister Jerry Buttimer, Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, along with a wide range of distinguished guests. The occasion brought together the Sailing into Wellness team, Board members, programme participants, funders, sponsors, and supporters to celebrate the organisation’s achievements to date and to look ahead to the opportunities that lie in the future.
Since their establishment in 2017, Sailing Into Wellness has reached an important point in their journey of empowering individuals and building a more inclusive society. Through their educational and therapeutic sailing programmes, they support and uplift those most in need within our communities, fostering healing, building resilience, and inspiring positive change through the unique therapeutic qualities of the sea.
Minister Jerry Buttimer officially opened the new premises, acknowledging the dedication, passion, and impact of the organisation. The gathering provided an opportunity not only to reflect on the progress made so far, but also to discuss the potential for future growth and continued collaboration. We heard from some of the participants who have taken part in Sailing into Wellness programmes, and they shared how the experience has supported them and helped them make meaningful changes in their lives.
Sharing their stories on the day highlighted the impact of spending time on the water, connecting with others, and having the space to focus on wellbeing. Many spoke about increased confidence, improved mental health, and feeling better equipped to manage everyday challenges.
Irish Sailing values its ongoing support of Sailing Into Wellness and is proud to stand alongside an organisation that so clearly demonstrates the power of sailing as a force for wellbeing and social inclusion.
