Sir Robin Knox-Johnston will be the focal point of a fundraising evening for UNICEF on Friday 20th February 2026. The Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire will be hosting the event, beginning at 6.30pm. Tickets are €70 and include a three-course meal, entertainment and a charitable contribution. The evening is being organised by Damien Payne of the National Yacht Club and will be hosted by Irish entrepreneur and broadcaster Bobby Kerr from Newstalk.
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is best known as the first person to sail solo and non-stop around the world, completing the historic voyage during the inaugural Golden Globe Race. Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in offshore sailing, his career has been defined by pioneering achievement, courage and leadership, helping to chart a course for generations of sailors who have followed in his wake. When receiving his Pindar Lifetime Achievement Award in November 2025, he was called the "David Attenborough of sailing."
