Winter is the perfect time to invest in skills that will make the coming sailing season safer and more enjoyable. Irish Sailing’s Coastal Navigation for Small Boats course is a shorebased programme designed to build or refresh navigation and seamanship skills - particularly helpful for those working towards Instructor pathways, Advanced Powerboat Certificate or Adventure Sailing Certificate!
The course is available through the Irish Sailing Passport (Checklick) and is delivered by an Advanced Small Boat Sailing Scheme (SBSS) Instructor or Advanced National Powerboat Training Scheme (NPTS) Instructor.
It focuses on the seamanship skills every small boat passage needs, including chartwork, buoyage, weather, tide, passage planning and safety afloat. Learning outcomes that support better decision-making and activity on the water.
Irish Sailing provides a dedicated course pack, complete with training charts, exercises and question sheets via accredited Training Centres - a programme well worth running throughout the winter months to keep skills and training momentum going.
