Killaloe Sailing Club, located on the western shore of Lough Derg, hosted the first Irish Sailing Race Official Course of 2026 last weekend.
The Local Race Officer course was delivered by National Race Officer, Liam Maloney with a total of thirteen completing the course content, covering all aspects of managing club racing in an effective manner, while at all times being made aware of the required safety considerations for a race management team and competitors.
Members from a number of neighbouring clubs also travelled to Killaloe SC for the course which was hugely beneficial in sharing ideas and experiences on the day. The theoretical side of the course was delivered in the morning, with the setting of a simulated racecourse outdoors in the afternoon. The session closed with a pop-up quiz on the key many areas which were covered throughout the day.
