The Irish Sailing Foundation has given €500,000 to Irish Sailing’s Performance Pathway. The amount includes €400,000 from direct funding and over €100,000 in accommodation and transport benefits contributed by Foundation donors. The Foundation operates independently of Irish Sailing and exists solely to raise charitable funding for the Pathway.
The Performance Pathway supports young Irish sailors as they develop high-performance skills while balancing education and personal development. Funded by Sport Ireland, the Foundation, and participant's families, the Performance Pathway Program relies on this combined support to operate, with the Foundation contributing approximately 30% of its 2025 budget.
A total of 20 donors supported the Foundation during the year, including contributors from Ireland, the US and the UK, with ambitions to double this number in 2026. Eight donors joined the Patron Programme, committing €50,000 annually for five years, helping to provide long-term stability for the Pathway and future Olympic campaigns.
The Foundation also continues to pursue support for a proposed High-Performance Headquarters in Dun Laoghaire Harbour, which would form part of the planned National Watersports Campus. With detailed plans in place, the project now seeks government backing to help transform the facility into a world-class base for Irish sailing.
