PLAN YOUR PASSAGES FOR 2026


The quiet winter months are the perfect time for passage planning for the new year. Below we have compiled a list of some of the biggest marinas off our shores for you to visit and things to do when you get there in the new year...

 

1. Dun Laoghaire Marina, Dublin

Things to do:

  • Walk along the East Pier and enjoy cafés along the waterfront.

  • Visit the National Maritime Museum and explore the town centre.

  • Take a day trip into Dublin City on the DART train which is beside the marina.

  • Swim at the famous Forty Foot bathing spot.

 

2. Howth Marina, Dublin

Things to do:

  • Hike the Howth Cliff Path for superb coastal views.

  • Eat fresh seafood in the harbour restaurants.

  • Visit Howth Castle grounds and gardens.

  • Sail out to (and around!) Ireland’s Eye.

 

3. Kinsale Marina, Cork

Things to do:

  • Explore Charles Fort and James Fort overlooking the harbour.

  • Enjoy a Guinness and seafood chowder in one of Kinsale’s many restaurants and pubs.

  • Take a cold dip at Dock Beach nearby the Marina. 

  • Walk the Scilly Walk to Summercove and soak in the stunning views.

  • Visit the local galleries and craft shops in town.

 

4. Kilmore Quay Marina, Wexford

Things to do:

  • Take a trip to the Saltee Islands which has a wildlife and bird sanctuary.

  • Explore the fishing village and local seafood spots.

  • Walk the beaches and coastal trails around the harbour.

  • Visit the lifeboat station and maritime heritage displays.

 

5. Dingle Marina, Kerry

Things to do:

  • Enjoy sailing around Dingle Bay, or hop onto an organised wildlife tour.

  • Explore Dingle town’s pubs, nighttime music scene, and artisan shops.

  • Visit the Dingle Distillery or the Oceanworld Aquarium.

  • Hike nearby routes like Eask Tower or Connor Pass viewpoints.
