Training Officers:

We want to hear from you! This summer we saw a 15% increase in the number of sailors on the SBSS programme nationwide - the Training Team are developing tools and advice for club leaders and volunteers delivering training and creating programmes in their Clubs & Centres and we want to hear from you!

If you have a top-tip to share or a particular barrier you need to overcome, email jordan.conway@sailing.ie to be heard and to get involved.

Irish Sailing Killcord Safety

Remember to always wear your killcord when operating a powerboat!

  1. It should be attached around the knee or thigh and not interfere with helm or throttle controls.
  2. Check that your killcord works before using the boat.
  3. Always keep a spare killcord on board.

Instructor Pre-Entry Assessments:

Knowing what to expect. After a busy summer of developing skills, many confident sailors will be keen to try their hand towards Instructorship and completing the first-step; the Pre-Entry Assessment.

Club Leaders and candidates knowing what standards are expected is an important factor to determine whether your skills are ready.

The assessment is pass or fail and critical in maintaining a quality within the framework.
