Lough Derg Yacht Club Hosts Race Official Training Weekend
Located in the beautiful Dromineer Co. Tipperary, Lough Derg YC hosted by Irish Sailing.
Race management courses last weekend ahead of the 2025 summer sailing season.
On Saturday , the very experienced Philip Scallan (national safety leader) facilitated a very engaging and interactive Course on safety. The content covered all aspects of best practice for safety on the water and highlighted the importance of mitigating risk within a structured framework.
The following day, the revised Irish Sailing Local Race Officer module was delivered by national race officer, John Leech. The emphasis on this course was importance of having a full race officer team trained up to support an event race officer and highlighted there is a role for everyone with different skills required around time keeping, recording results etc.
