Get prepared on the Safeguarding front now for 2025.
Irish Sailing has recently updated all our policies and procedures on Safeguarding.
All sporting organisations need to appoint the relevant roles, have an up-to-date Safeguarding Statement, with a risk assessment and publish their policies. They must also train all Leaders in Safeguarding and are recommended to ask all participants, parents, children, leaders and individuals in the sport to sign up to a Code of Conduct.
It is of the utmost importance to create a culture of safety within our clubs and centres for the protection of children, leaders and organisations.
By working under the guidance of Safeguarding Policies, all individuals (both volunteers and employed) working with our young people throughout any organisation, should seek to create a safe environment for young people to grow and develop within sport.
The Irish Sailing Safeguarding Statement, Policy and all supporting Safeguarding Policy documents, list the principles which should be adhered to and are available for affiliate members to use in the implementation of the Safeguarding system in their organisations.
Our Child Safeguarding Statement has been developed in line with requirements under the Children First Act 2015 The Children First: National Guidance, Tusla’s Child Safeguarding: A Guide for Policy, Procedure & Practice and Sport Ireland’s Safeguarding Guidance for Children & Young People in Sport. You can view it here or view the entire, updated Irish Sailing Safeguarding Library HERE
