IRC EUROPEANS

IRC Europeans one week away!

Dublin Bay is set to welcome the IRC European Championship with an impressive fleet of boats from all corners of Ireland and across international waters converge for this prestigious event. Racing under the IRC Rating Rule, the fleet will compete to win the overall IRC European crown and a new overall Corinthian Trophy as well as European IRC Class honours.

With crews traveling from across the UK, and Hong Kong, the competition promises to be fierce. Irish teams will be proudly representing their local waters, while international competitors seek to make their mark on Irish seas.

In the IRC class 0, The Royal Irish Yacht Club welcomes TP52 Beau Geste that has most recently won the ORC Europeans. Karl Kwok from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club  travels to Ireland to see if he and his crew can add to their seasons success’s. They will race alongside Pete Symth’s Ker 46 'Searcher' from the Royal Irish Yacht Club that recently were the first Irish finisher in the Round Ireland Yacht Race and Johnny Treanors ‘Valentina’ Cork Week overall winner and IRC 0 winner at the recent ICRA Nationals.

Class 0 promises to be highly competitive, as they also feature David Mulligan’s Cape 31 ‘Valkerie’, Micheal Wilson’s ‘Shotgun’ and Pwllheli Sailing Club’s J125 ‘Jacknife’ among the strong contenders.

In IRC Class 1, J109 'Outrageous' returns to the Royal Irish Yacht Club fresh from securing the overall title at the ICRA Nationals just last weekend. Welcomed by the local rivalry of Tim Goodbody’s ‘White Mischeif’ and Barry Cunningham’s ‘Chimeara’ IRC class 1 Cork Week Winners.

Last years IRC Europeans were held in the Yacht Club de Cannes In France with Beau Geste claiming the overall title which they will hope to retain this year.

Stay tuned to Irish Sailing and the Royal Irish Yacht Club’s channels for regular updates and interviews throughout the event. And there is still time to enter this event! So be sure not to miss out!
