FEMALE TOPPER WORLD CHAMPION
Irish Sailors continue to make waves this summer, recording notable results in different classes across Europe. Last week seven Irish Sailors from the Irish Sailing Topper Academy headed to Los Alcazares in Spain for their World Championships.
After a week of light wind and lots of hard work from our sailors, the Irish Sailing Team came out with three top ten results and one female World Champion.
Gemma Brady from The National Yacht Club and Lough Derg Yacht Club placed 9th overall and first amongst female competitors.
Leo O’Doherty from Sligo SC came 4th overall and Rory Brennan from The National YC came 7th overall.
Liam Glynn, Irish Sailing Junior Coach said, "We are very proud of the whole Irish Sailing squad and how all the hard work put in over the summer has culminated in to such a succesful World Championships. Achieving such great results has been brilliant, but to us it's also been so satisfying to see the young sailors engaged with such a growth mindset to the highs and lows of competitive sport. They will all have so much to draw on as they continue their journeys."
