RTE Young Sportsperson of the Year

Eve McMahon, Young Sports Person of the Year Nominee

This Saturday 16th of December, Irish Sailing's Eve McMahon will attend the RTE Sports Awards on nomantion for Young Sportsperson of the Year, for her second year running.

She is nominated of the back of winning the U21 ILCA World Championship's in Morocco earlier this year.

When speaking to Eve about what it feels like to be nominated she reflected that

"It's great to be nominated for second year in the row and an honour to have RTE recognise all the hard work I’ve put in over the year. The awards really are an inspirational night to be in a room surrounded by so many high performance athletes and I'm looking forward to seeing so many other athletes I respect and admire"

Eve will be landing from Lanzarote that morning to sit one of her Christmas Exams in UCD in the morning and attend the awards afterwards. This just goes to show how hard our performance athletes are working year round, to acheive their goals.

When asked about her win in Morocco eve comments that "I was really happy with my performance, as last year I came second to a Belgiun sailor after making some avoidable mistakes. So to then go away and work on that all year and then come back an win gold was really great"

A massive congrats to Eve on another incredible year on the water! We are so excited for what will come next for this young athlete.
