Tarbert Island Maritime Club was founded by a few enthusiasts to continue hosting the recently revived Annual Regatta and to take advantage of Tarbert Bay's natural amenities for maritime pleasure activities. Situated at the head of Tarbert Pier the club is located on the Shannon Estuary, midway between the Ocean and Limerick City and readily accessible by land or water with sheltered mooring nearby. They have a membership of approx 80 people and their families whoes interest vary from national advanced competitive sailing, rowing, swimming and angling. Sailors complete regularly with other in east coast clubs from Fenit to Galway and with other clubs in the Estuary and Lough Derg. They also compete in the West of Ireland Offshore Racing Assoc. Annual Championship in which one of the club's boat and crew was first in their class in 2003 and 2004. Our rowing boats are very much in demand by our young and young at heart members, especially during fine summer evenings. As part of the facilities for members the club can arrange tuition in seamanship, sailing, rowing, canoeing, power boat operation and swimming and provide information on boat trips.
