Seafest Try Sailing

Seafest Try Sailing and Motorboating Sessions 2017

Participant Information

Types of Boat – There are three types of boats available and your Eventbrite booking will state which type you have booked.

galway hooker Galway Hooker
Two Hookers, Croi na Claddagh and the Manuela will take maximum 10 people in each sail boat for a short blast on the bay. It is an exposed deck, so you may get a damp bottom and a little sea spray on your face and clothes :) Age 9+.
 Seafest Try Sailors 2 Keelboat
Taking 5/6 people sat in the boat. The skipper may give you a chance to helm and pull the sheets (that is the ropes on a sailing boat!). A little sea spray will freshen you up. Age 3+ (no buggies).
galway bay boat tours Motorboat
The two motor boats will take a maximum of 10 people stood or sat in side in each boat. Travels about 5 knots for a gentle potter up the Cladagh towards the Spanish Arch and a beautiful look back into Galway city from the sea – no high speed chasing. Age 3+ (no buggies).

Times – You will receive an email stating what time you are booked in for. Check in will open 30 minutes prior to your allocated sailing time and closed 10 minutes to departure. Late arrivals will miss their trip and their space will be given to any waiting passengers.

Clothing – Dress warm and bring a rain coat (even if the sun is splitting the stones :)). It is much cooler out on the water and you want to make sure you enjoy your time out there.

Safety  – Personal Flotation Devices (buoyancy aids and life jackets) will be provided and it is a requirement to wear them at all times while on and around the water. All boats will have experienced skippers in control and safety boat cover is on hand at all times.

Disabilities  – We can cater for a wide range of disabilities, please ensure we know in advance of your arrival so we can cater for your needs accordingly – email ciaran.murphy@sailing.ie

Change your booking or cancel – We perfectly understand that you may need to change your booking, but we are fully booked and will only have spaces in alternative slots if we get a cancellation, so if you can’t come any more please do let us know, so we can let someone else go. If you need to move your booking then we will do our best to reallocate you to any cancellations but cannot guarantee any changes are possible. Thank you for understanding.

Cancellations – Sailing and Boating is determined by the prevailing weather, tidal conditions and ability of the boat for those conditions. It is the responsibility of the Skipper to ensure the safety of all on board is paramount and may cancel a sailing for safety sake without any consequence or re-schedule required. We shall endeavor to notify everyone at the earliest convenience if this occurs.

Registration and departure location – Registration, personal flotation and boat launching will all be at Point 8 on this map. We also have an information stand in the Kids Zone at Point 2.
