Calling All Instructors

Be prepared for the Summer season of 2017 – upgrade and up skill your qualifications by becoming an ISA Senior Instructor

The ISA are Now taking bookings for Senior Instructor Training

The ISA Senior Instructor is an experienced Instructor who has been trained to take on the task of leading a team of ISA Instructors in the safe and effective delivery of ISA accredited training courses within an ISA Training Centre. In doing so they will act as –

• Leader
• Manager
• Technical expert and
• Instructor

Qualifications available include –

• ISA Senior Instructor (Sailing)
• ISA Senior Instructor (Windsurfing)
• ISA Senior Instructor (Powerboating)

All ISA Training Centres must have a Senior Instructor with the appropriate qualifications supervising all waterbased sailing, powerboat and windsurfing activities. This course aims to provide the skills and knowledge Senior Instructors need to undertake this role.

Choose from one of the following scheduled courses –

Howth Yacht Club 25th, 26th & 27th November and 3rd & 4th December 2016 with trainers Dave Garvey
and Kevin Rahill
Dunmore East Adventure Centre  27th – 31st March 2017 with trainers Rupert Musgrave
and Kevin Rahill
Shackleton OEC  1st – 5th May 2017 with trainers David Garvey
and Shane McElligott
Lough Derg Yacht Club  19th – 23rd June 2017 with trainers Claire Toohey
and Shane McElligott
  • Howth Yacht Club  Course – over two weekends – 25th, 26th & 27th November and 3rd & 4th December 2016 – Dave Garvey and Kevin Rahill
  • Dunmore East Adventure Centre  – W/C 27th March 2017 – Rupert Musgrave and Kevin Rahill
  • Shackleton OEC – W/C Monday 1st May 2017 – David Garvey & Shane McElligott
  • Lough Derg Yacht Club – W/C Monday 19th June 2017 – Claire Toohey & Shane McElligott

Cost of Course: €300.00 (ISA members) – €346.00 (non-ISA members)

The ISA training department will be running a 2 Assimilation course in Spring 2017 – contact Nuala to express your interest on training@sailing.ie

Pre-requisites for Small Boat Sailing Scheme Instructors

• Valid ISA SBSS Instructor certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum age 19 years
• Recommendation from Club Officer or Centre Principal.
• Recommendation from Senior Instructor
• Valid First Aid Certificate from approved course
• ISA Safety Boat Certificate.
• Logbook: At least 50 days working as an ISA SBSS Instructor teaching SBSS courses
spread over 2 seasons in 2 or more different organisations.
Pre-requisites for National Powerboat Training Scheme Instructors

• Valid ISA Powerboat Instructor certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum age 19 years
• Recommendation from Centre Principal
• Recommendation from Senior Instructor
• Valid First Aid Certificate from approved course
• Logbook: At least 26 days working as an ISA Powerboat Instructor teaching on
powerboat courses spread over 2 seasons in 2 or more different
organisations.
Pre-requisites for Go! Windsurfing Scheme Instructors

• Valid ISA Go Windsurfing Instructor certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum age 19 years
• Recommendation from Centre Principal
• Recommendation from Senior Instructor
• Valid First Aid Certificate from approved course
• ISA Safety Boat Certificate.
• Logbook: At least 50 days working as an ISA Windsurfing Instructor teaching on
windsurfing courses spread over 2 seasons in 2 or more different
organisations.
