Are you ready for 2018 summer training?
Ok, so we’re still in the thick of this season but now is the time to start thinking ahead to next year particularly in terms of your instructor team. In order to make next season easier (I know, but it doesn’t be long coming round!) this is the time to look at the potential within your current crew of instructors and assistants and identify the future Instructors, Advanced Instructors and Senior instructors.
At this stage we would ask that your JO, Centre Principal ans SI take a look at your team, identify those you think show potential for further instructor training and encourage them to follow this through. You could also have a look at the pre-requisites (Pre-entry, Powerboat, Emergency care etc.) and ensure candidates are aware of them and to see if any can be facilitated within the organisation or in partnership with other local organisations.
This year we are putting particular focus on targeting potential Advanced Instructor and Senior Instructor candidates and will be contacting Clubs and Training Centres asking for specific nominees to go forward for training. This will allow us to contact them directly to ensure they are aware of all the upcoming course dates as well as all of the qualification requirements.
The first Senior Instructor course for the coming season is scheduled to take place in Baltimore S.C. on Sunday 3rd – Thursday 7th September ahead of the return to college for most students and can be booked here. (Previously starting on 11th, moved to accommodate Cork colleges)
Dates for a second SI course in Dublin over two weekends in November will be confirmed soon.
