New Equipment Inspection Course
As part of the continued development of the Irish Sailing Race Official programme, we are now introducing the EI (Equipment Inspection) Course.
The innaugral Irish Sailing EI course will be run on Friday the 6th of April @ Howth Yacht Club, in conjunction with the J24 Eastern Championships. The course will run from 2pm to 6pm.
The course is a great opportunity for anyone interested in Class Measurement or Equipment Inspection. No previous experience is necessary and course content is applicable to all classes.
The syllabus will include:
· Why Equipment Inspection.
· Differences between EI & Measuring.
· Tools required for EI.
· Procedure for EI.
· What rules apply to EI.
· Practical EI session.
The tutor will be Fergus O’Kelly of Sutton Dinghy Club and Howth Yacht Club. Fergus is an experienced sailor of dinghies, keelboats and cruisers, both in the delivery, cruising and racing worlds. He first became an RYA approved measurer and is currently a Class measurer for Squibs, J24’s, Etchells, International Moth and IRC. He has also been Chief Measurer for World and European Championships and is a Small Craft Surveyor. We look forward to Fergus sharing some of his extensive knowledge in April.
