Garrykennedy Sailing Club (GSC) is located in the village of Garrykennedy, on the Tipperary (eastern) shore of Lough Derg near the town of Nenagh. Garrykennedy has a small new (2007) marina managed by Waterways Ireland, and a much older inner harbour dating back to the golden days of Shannon Navigation which is owned by Tipperary County Council.
The club is made up of enthusiastic keelboat sailors based on the Tipperary shores of Lough Derg, most of whom keep their boats in harbours close to Garrykennedy. The Club was founded in 1985 by a group of like minded sailors who wanted relaxed fun but competitive cruiser racing on the Tipperary shore of Lough Derg. Many of those founder members are still very active and the ethos and spirit of the club emanates from the those early days. The emphasis was always on having fun.
This June, Garrykennedy wants to invite ladies of all ages and sailing abilities out on the water to partake in some friendly White Sail racing. On Saturday 22nd June from 11am in Garrykennedy Sailing club women are invited to become members of the crew on some of the Club Keelboats for a fee of €10. All monies raised will go to the Irish Cancer Society.
Pre-booking is essential so please call Mary on 087 644 3389 or email email@example.com
