NAME AN IRISH BUOY
NAME AN IRISH BUOY
In an effort to make it easier to identify a buoys location. Met Eireann are proposing to rename the network of weather bouys posted around the coast of Ireland. At present the buoys are named M1 to M5. It has been suggested that a name which includes reference to the area where the buoy is located would mean more to listeners of Mets own Sea Area Forecasts, Irish Coast Guard's SAF on VHF as well as the weatherdial voice & fax services.
Met Eireann have indicated to the ISA that they are open to suggestions as to appropriate names. Do you have any ideas? If so leave them here under our bulletin board section.
More details on the buoys and their locations can be obtained at www.met.ie/marine/marine_observations.asp
