Seago Issues Lifejacket Safety Warning
Seago Yachting of Hailsham, Sussex, has issued a safety warning for its Seago 150 and 175 Newton lifejackets, including the Junior Lifejackets. Seago says these jackets may have a defect that could result in serious injury.
The company has posted the safety notice on its website at www.seagoyachting.co.uk The notice shows the manufacture dates of the lifejackets affected and warns users to stop using a lifejacket immediately if it was manufactured in the relevant period.
Seago lifejackets are marked with the manufacturing quarter of each year. The affected quarters are IV 05, all of 06 and 1 07. These jackets were sold through chandleries, marine retail outlets and on marine websites.
The company says owners with affected lifejackets should remove the gas cylinder from the jacket and send the jacket back to the company for testing. All faulty jackets will be replaced and jackets found to be not faulty will be returned.
