11 SAILING CLUBS WIN THE LOTTERY
With the support of the ISA, this year a total of €283,500 was awarded to ISA Affiliated Clubs from the National Lottery-funded Sports Capital Programme.
The programme provides funding to voluntary sporting and community organisations at local, regional and national level through out the country towards the provision of sport and recreational facilities.
A total of 1,533 applications were received by this deadline and were assessed in accordance with the Guidelines, Terms and Conditions of the Programme. Following completion of the assessment process, provisional grant allocations were announced on 5th April 2007.
A total of 935 individual projects were allocated provisional grant funding worth €85 million. The complete list can be found on the Department of Sport website: www.arts-sport-tourism.gov.ie
Sports Capital Programme awards to ISA Affiliated Organisations:
Baltimore Sailing Club €25,000 towards purchase of rescue boats
Swords Sailing & Boating Club €50,000
Sutton Dinghy Club €40,000 towards facilities and equipment
Sailing in Dublin €11,000 towards purchase of new boats
Galway bay Sailing Club €25,000 towards purchase of boats for disabled access
Irish Windsurfing Association €20,000
Tralee Bay Sailing Club €50,000 towards upgrading sailing and training facilities
Atlantic Sailing Club €12,500 to purchase a fleet of dinghie to introduce people to sailing
Arklow Sailing Club €15,000 towards purchase of rescue boat
Foynes Yacht Club €5,000 towards upgrade of gangway to the pontoons including disabled access
Lough Ree Yacht Club €30,000 towards the next stage of club development, boat ourchase and disabled access
