Having graduated from the Optimist last year, Patrick has widened his sailing experience considerably. His talent and versatility was demonstrated in FEVA’s, 4.7’s and 420’s. Before finally settling on sailing the 420, he topped off a great season by finishing 3rd at the Topper World Championships hosted by the NYC last July.

A long standing member of the ISA Optimist squad, Peter showed his flair on the international circuit at numerous regattas during the season. Having placed 7th at the European Championships in 2010, he improved on that fine performance by placing 5th in this year’s championship.

: National Yacht Club, Courtown Sailing Club, Wexford Harbour Boat & Tennis Club
Often referred to as the Youth Olympics, the ISAF Youth Worlds is one of ISAF’s most prestigious events. This summer Ireland has the honour of hosting the event. In 2011 it was hosted by Croatia. To even get to the start line ISA Academy member Philip Doran had to fend off stiff competition from the other Irish sailors. Once there he performed with distinction winning the final race and finishing 10th overall.

Seafra has made the transition from ISA Optimist squad to ISA 4.7 squad and now is on trial with the ISA Academy. His progress is down to hard work and a great attitude. 274 boats competed at the 4.7 Europeans in Holland last July and Seafra finished 15th overall and in the process took the Silver Medal for the u16 championship.

: Tralee Bay Sailing Club 
While we were all enjoying our Christmas dinner young Sophie Browne was down in New Zealand doing her final preparations for the Optimist World Championships. Spurred on by the success of her fellow Optimist sailors at international regattas during the summer, Sophie was determined to cap a great year off in style. That is exactly what she did, finishing 13th overall from 210 boats and picking up a Silver medal for 2nd Girl.
