Annalise had tremendous success internationally in 2011. She firstly finished 4th at the Miami World Cup in January followed by a podium finish at Sail for Gold in Weymouth where she took home the bronze medal. She then travelled to Perth in December for the ISAF World Championships where she finished 6th overall and qualified Ireland for the 2012 Olympics.

Name: George Kenefick

George Kenefick’s first achievement of 2011 was helming the winning boat ‘Chimp’ at the Half Ton Cup at Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in August. George then continued his success at the ISA All Ireland Sailing Championship where, as the youngest helm in the competition, he beat four time Olympian Mark Mansfield to the gold. George then travelled to France representing CIT at the Student Yachting World Cup where he skipped the crew to 3rd place.

Dragon sailor Martin Byrne gained both national and international acclaim in 2011 as he and his crew took home the historic Edinburgh Cup at the Dragon Open British Championship in July. Martin then proved his dominance within the Dragon class once again at the Irish Dragon National Championships in Kinsale later that summer where he took home the gold.

Name: Noelle Doran

Veteran windsurfer Noelle Doran made history in December 2011 as she set the Irish Ladies Speed Record reaching a staggering 38.17 knots in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. With perfect wind and water conditions, Noelle sailed with a 4.2m sail which for a 58kg, 5ft 4” lady in winds of up to 35knots is an impressive feat in itself. Noelle’s times logged on gps-speedsurfing.com put her in 1st in the World for 2011 (500m).
