Youth Sailor of the Year Nominess Minimize
Liam Glynn        Fionn Lyden
Club: Ballyholme Yacht Club
Liam is the first Irish sailor to win the Topper Worlds and as such stands out alone from an illustrious list of previous Irish Topper sailors. Ryan Seaton, 2012 London Olympian, first cut his teeth in the Topper class as did Philip Doran and Finn Lynch. This achievement marks him out as one to watch for the future.

      Club: Baltimore Sailing Club
The Baltimore sailor is another member of the talented group that constitutes the ISA Laser Academy. Fionn led the charge on behalf of the team at the Italian Europa Cup, defeating over 300 sailors to win the regatta outright. Like his team mate Finn Lynch, Fionn will now be focussing on breaking through in to the Laser Standard rig.
 Finn Lynch
Club: National Yacht Club
Improving on an ISAF Youth Worlds silver medal in 2012 was always going to be a big ask. However in winning the U21 Radial World Championships, Finn added another world medal to his trophy cabinet. It was a fine way to cap off what has been a stellar career for the Carlow native in Laser Radial sailing. Finn has now moved on to the senior Laser Standard Rig and will be focussing all his attention on breaking through in to the senior circuit in 2014.

This award is presented by the ISA to recognise the outstanding achievement by a sailor competing in ISA Performance Pathway boats during the year.

Finn Lynch

Finn had a tremendous season of competition in 2012. His truly outstanding moment was when he provided an emotional finale to the 2012 ISAF Youth Worlds when he clinched a silver medal; the best ever result for an Irish sailor since the championship’s inception in 1971.  Finn also took home gold in the U-17 category at the European Laser Radial Youth Championship.
