Last winter’s storms caused a great deal of sand movement around the coast, and at Kilmore Quay the least depth in the approach channel was reduced by about 0.3 metre. In a Marine Notice in March, Wexford County Council’s Marine Officer Captain Phil Murphy reported that the approximate limiting depth entering the harbour at Low Water Springs was currently 1.5 metres, and advised caution when transiting this area. Efforts are in hand to remedy the situation but Captain Murphy reported that the fishing fleet was coping well with the situation.
