John Leahy from the CAI would like to invite all cruising sailors to the RIYC in September...

The Royal Irish Yacht Club is running an of event which will appeal to cruisers from the club and from any other club in the area. Everyone welcome - no need to be member of RIYC or CAI. The idea is to get cruising folk together for one evening and one day to share a common love of cruising.

Date: 5th & 6th of September

Friday night Pursuit Race. This has already been set up for the racing folk but cruisers are welcome to join in. The idea is to be allocated a handicap by the club. You then start with slowest boats going first and the flyers last. If the committee get it right (which they won't) all  boats would finish together or nearly so. Now you may wonder what this has to do with you - a cruising person! The season is short and it seems a good idea that the RIYC has invited us along to join in the fun. Friday night you can pit your skills against the regulars, raft alongside free of charge and enjoy food and drink on the platform. Saturday, after a short bash around the Bay in the morning we raft up again to join in the music and BBQ provided.
