Here is a great example of club collaboration and racing participation. On Sunday 13th Cullaun Sailing Club hosted our first ever inter club junior regatta. There were sailors from Cullaun Sailing Club, Killaloe Sailing Club and Foynes yacht Club taking part. This was a great Success and there were over 40 Junior Sailors on the water for the day. This is the first time an event like this has been organised and judging by the skills and quality of the sailors it looks like it wont be the last. Layla Benfredi( Cullaun SC) came in first overall in her Laser closedly followed by Sean Hynes and Mike O Dea( Cullaun SC RS 200) with Ciara Mc Cormack and Fionn Mc Gibney from Foynes Yacht Club Omega taking third place.
This was a mixed fleet of boats with and a portsmouth Handicap being used to calculate the overall winner. There were Lasers, Feva's, Visions, Omegas and RS200 boats all competiting for line honours at the event.
Cullaun Sailing Club are running a Junior summer camps which has led to the increase of activity on the lake. It is situated between Kilkishen and Tulla and has an active Junior and senior sailing squad that meet once a week.
