Do you want to see an action packed regatta where the boats don’t float, they fly…and perhaps capsize in spectacular fashion? Then get down to Dun Laoghaire this weekend – the Irish Moth Tour is back!

From Friday the 20th through to Sunday the 22nd of June some of Ireland’s top sailors will be competing in the third round of the 2014 Irish Moth Tour; the International Moth National Championship.

International Moths will jostle at speeds of between 15 and 32 mph on Dublin Bay for the title of the National Champion. With a rigged boat weighing less than half the sailor’s body weight, the boats don’t sail with the wind they sail through it, past it with sails sheeted in downwind. Sailing has discovered its third dimension.

The National Championship will be running in conjunction with the National Yacht Club regatta in Dun Laoghaire making for some spectacular viewing from the East Pier. The line-up will include Olympians Annalise Murphy and Rory Fitzpatrick as well as fellow renowned Mothies such as John Chambers. Rory Fitzpatrick will be eager to continue his recent winning streak although it has been rumoured that Graeme Grant, the undefeated flying Scot may be making a return.

Having only formed in 2013, the Irish Moth Tour has gone from strength to strength in recent months. The bug is biting and new sailors are continuing to join the fleet. A major boost for the Tour has been today’s announcement of title sponsor Owned by sailors and suppliers with over 25 years’ experience in the industry, offers a one-stop-shop providing all the best dinghy systems and information in one easy to use online shop. is proud to support the Irish Moth Tour and what is one of the fastest growing classes in Ireland. International Moth National Championship Line-up

John Chambers (3/1 odds)
Sailing a Mach 2. Hard at work helping  build the new Voodoo Moth prototype in Bray, John hasn’t had much time afloat but when has that ever stopped him?

Rory Fitzpatrick (2/1 odds)
Won the last three events and snuck away to the Delta Lloyd Regatta to race his Moth where he placed ‘top Irish’ at the Olympic International event. Somebody has to wipe the smug look off his face!

Ronan Wallace (Moves up to 6/1 odds)
Lest we forget the sturdiness of the Wexford man…Hails from the South East. Where men are men!

Annalise Murphy (Moves up to 3/1 odds)
She’s starting to win races but with ridiculous pink trampolines none of the guys are happy to see that in front of them.

Neil O’Toole (Moves up to 8/1)
Having formerly designed and built a race car, Neil has applied the same workshop time to his Velociraptor with new red tramps. 2/1 red tramps fade to pink.

Alistair Kissane (6/1)
Moments of blistering boat speed although often no finish line in sight. It’s a pity he’s not from Wexford.

Ed Butler (8/1)
The former 49er helm is a lone wolf in the wolf pack. Slick skills. Unpredictable.

Graeme Grant (2/1 odds)
Scottish and mystical.
