Cork City is creating a unique event for the people of Cork around the ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championships. The top women champion sailors will match race in J80s off Albert Quay from 2pm on the 6th of June, with commentary for the spectators.
Fantastic traditional entertainment will be provided around the racing in the heart of the city by The Lee Sessions
followed by members of the cast of Pulse Tradition
who were the No 1 tourist attraction on Trip Advisor for 2013. Completing the entertainment that afternoon will be one of the countries top blues and rock band The Dizzy Blues
The Irish Navy’s new flagship LÉ Samuel Beckett will make her first appearance in the city too and will be open to the public. Giving people a unique opportunity to see, the new addition to the Irish naval fleet.
There will be a full bar and high quality artisan food along the quay for everyone to enjoy and Meitheal Mara
with their boats will add to this unique maritime occasion for all to experience.
The ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship is the opening event for the 2014 Women’s International Match Racing Series. It is a professional sailing circuit hosted by the Women’s International Match Racing Association for the world’s leading women match racing sailors. In match racing the crews meet two by two in exciting duels that can easily be followed and understood by spectators. Spectators can view the daily racing from Camden Fort Meagher in Crosshaven.
Cork County Council and the Port of Cork proudly sponsor the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship in Crosshaven. This event will put Cork City and Crosshaven on the world map and will show case the harbour and surrounding areas. In addition, the ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championships is delighted to announce the additional support from OneAlbertQuay Development, the new development by John Cleary Developments in the City.
