Swords Sailing and Boating Club recently hosted their 5th annual SSBC Lady Helm Championship. Two fleets raced concurrently with double handed Vagos and single hand Topaz.

The wind was strong for the first three races and rescue were kept very busy especially during the third race with plenty of boom bumps. After a fantastic lunch of scrumptious cakes and treats the wind settled down to a nice steady pace and there was some very impressive kite sailing from the Vagos.

Commodore Jackie Malone won the title of Ladies Helm with Orlaith Sweeney as crew, in a very tight race with equal points for their closest competition, Aoife, visiting from Sutton and last years champion, Coimhe Rainey.

The winner of the Topaz race was Ursula McDonald. There was a great turn out also from the younger sailors with Evie Wodhams winning best helm for under 14s.
Thanks to Jackie for organising the day and everyone for their support and help on shore, ribs and committee, for another very successful and enjoyable SSBC event.
