Following on from the successes of 2012, the ISA celebrated its Sail Spree initiative for a second year over the 2013 May Bank Holiday weekend. A variety of events took place at ISA Clubs and Training Centres across the country.

27 ISA Clubs and Training Centres took part in the initiative which was aimed at encouraging a wider audience to experience the thrill of a variety of different water sports. Clubs and centres offered taster sessions in sailing, windsurfing and powerboating as well as hosting on-shore entertainment and activities which included music, entertainment and barbecues.

Based on the figures returned from those organisations that participated, an estimated 1,957 participants attended ‘On the Water Taster Sessions’ nationwide averaging 73 participants per organisation. A further 6,190 are estimated to have attended the event for the onshore entertainment and activities creating a total of 8,147 overall participants.

The 27 organisations that took part this year saw the potential of the event and worked with the ISA to maximise the benefits of being associated to the initiative. This resulted in a better quality experience for participants and is clearly evident in the participation figures below.
