Garrykennedy Sailing Club will be hosting the inaugural ‘Round the Islands’ race on Saturday the 1st of June. This will be a 20 mile race around some of the most scenic parts of Lough Derg at a time of year when the lake is at its best. 

For the serious sailors, there is handicap racing for both Class 2 and 1 boats, with a start at 1145 and 1200 respectively. There will also be a White Sails category. Briefing will be at 1100 in Garrykennedy.

The race starts and finishes in Garrykennedy but visits Dromineer Bay and Oilean Mor to the North, Hare Island and Moutshannon to the West, before turning South to the Scilly and then home. An interesting days sailing is promised for all. After the race, the club will host some light refreshments and a social gathering, before the prize giving.
