Around the world from Kinvara many miles many lands
Fergus & Kay Quinlan were awarded the Irish Cruising Club prestigous trophy "the Faulkener Cup" in 2010 having completed an exceptionl cruise from Kinvara to the Pacific Island of Tahiti: distance over 12,000 miles in their much travelled home built Cutter Pylades; the log for that part of their cruise is titled: Origins Cruise: Kinvara to South Pacific 2009-2010.
They won the Irish Cruising Club trophy again in 2011 for the cruising log on their continued circumnavigation: The Origins Cruise continued: Polynesia to Darwin and last Friday night the 15th February 2013 at the Irish Cruising Club Dinner/Annual Awards in Dun Laoighre they were awarded the "Faulkener Cup" for a third time in a row for the conlcuding part of 3 year circumnavigation Origins Cruise: Darwin to Kinvara.
The Quinlans achievement is further enhanced by the fact that, in their determination to acquire a boat suitable for long distance voyaging they built their steel constructed 40 foot Cutter Pylades themselves launching her in 1997.
This talk is open to all non-sailors.
