12 teams are to battle it out in the ISA SailFleet J80's on Sunday the 26th of June in the first Waterways Ireland Inter-Counties Sailing Championship in Grand Canal Basin in Dublin’s Docklands from 11am – 4pm. The sailing event is the centrepiece of 2 days of family fun at the Docklands Summer Festival.
Teams representing counties in every province have entered the competition. The championship will comprise a series heats to take place on Sunday the 26th of June from 11am – 3pm, with the final taking place between 3-4pm to decide the first Waterways Ireland Inter-Counties Sailing Champions.
The Docklands Business Community together with Waterways Ireland have partnered together and established the Docklands Summer Festival. ‘Come & try it’ sessions on windsurfers, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and peddle boats, will run alongside barge trips, a Plurabelle Paddlers Dragon Boat Display, markets, street entertainment, and much more. Check out www.docklandssummerfestival.com. Members of the public can win a cruising holiday on Irelands Inland Waterways by entering a competition in the Waterways Ireland Visitors Centre. With the Grand Canal Dock Dart Station only 100metres away from the fun, the events are accessible to everyone.
