A young Irish female sailor from Dublin is making her mark in Australia as she and two others prepare for a season of competition in an 18ft Skiff during the Australian 18 Footers League’s 2012 / 2013 Season on Sydney Harbour.

19 year old Saskia Tidey, who was on the ISA’s Laser Radial Academy before transitioning to 470’s to crew alongside Diana Kissane, will form one third of an all-girl team known as the ‘Skiff Chicks’. Sailing with 19 year old Alexandra ‘Alex’ South (daughter of former Giltinan champion Adam South) and 23 year old Frances Dargaville, the trio will be the second all female crew to contest the Giltinan Championship since it began in 1938, which begins with the $10,000 3-Buoys Challenge on the 14th of October.
