ISA Training Centre of the Year 2011, Rusheen Bay Windsurfing, has been chosen from over 12,000 entries to become an ESB eCar ambassador. The watersports school beat off serious competition in the ESB's The Great Electric Drive competition.
The schools owner Danny Mulryan commented "we are delighted to be given the opportunity to share the experience of using a fully electric vehicle with the nation. Yes we have our reservations but already the figures are starting to make real sense. The zero emissions theme fits well into our business model. Its in our best interests to ensure we have a minimum impact on the surrounding environment".
The school will be given a Smith-Edison electric van for six months. The award also includes the installation of a charge point for the vehicle. As part of the deal the school will report to the nation on the experience of using the 100% electric van over a 6 month period.
The school is expecting delivery of the eVan in the coming month. The experience from all 21 ambassadors can be followed on www.esbecarsblog.ie
