The Optimist World Championships have concluded in the Dominican Republic. Harry Whitaker, Douglas Elmes, Megan Parker, Harry Durcan and Sophie Browne will return home after almost three weeks away where they sailed nine races against the top Optimist sailors worldwide.

Congratulations to the team who have all been placed in the top half of the fleet. Harry Whitaker had a great performance up to the last day where he continued his run of top tens with a 2nd in the last race. This left him 20th overall. Once again, top place in the event goes to a girl -  Yukie Yokoyama of Singapore who was supported in her 1st overall by team mates who took 2nd, 3rd and 5th places.
