ISA Mitsubishi Youth National Championships

Light and changeable winds got the tenth, four-day ISA Mitsubishi National Youth Championship off to a mixed start on Dublin Bay yesterday.

Three classes began racing in Dublin Bay on Thursday with the full seven classes with over 300 sailors from 10 nations taking to the water this morning. Winds have been light and unpredictable leading to some race postponements but organisers are optimistic that the full schedule of three races will be completed.

This event will act as a selection event for the Irish Team for the Four Star Pizza ISAF Youth Worlds being held in Dun Laoghaire in July.

ISA Olympic Media Briefing

The ISA hosted a Media Briefing yesterday morning in Dublin for sports journalists to update them on the preparations for London 2012.

All five of our qualified Olympic sailors were in attendance to answer questions on their performances and goals leading up to the Games in August.

James O'Callaghan, ISA Performance Director delivered a synopsis of the squad's achievements to date, their upcoming events and their future targets. He also gave an insight in to the training the squad undertake and the strategic planning, structures and training behind the ISA Performance Pathway in which youths progress through to Olympic level.

The sailors were featured on the Six One News last night and can be viewed on the RTE Player.

Also keep an eye on TV3 and BBCNI in the coming days as well as national radio and print. We had a great turnout and a lot of interest in Team Ireland.
