The ISA are excited to announce the 22 nominees in contention for its 5 prestigious annual awards. The awards will be presented at the 6th Annual Awards Ball which will take place in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin on the 3rd of March.

The event provides a platform for the ISA to officially acknowledge and commend some of the outstanding contributors to sailing in 2011. ISA Chief Executive Harry Hermon remarked “We’re delighted to host this event to honour Ireland’s passionate and talented sailors. 2011 has been an exciting year for sailing in Ireland with many Irish sailors receiving notoriety both at home and abroad and we’re proud to be able to publicly recognise their accomplishments”.

2012 Olympic campaigner Annalise Murphy has been nominated for the ISA Sailing Achievement of the Year which is proudly sponsored by Investwise, but she’ll face some stiff competition from the three other candidates who have all had significant accomplishments internationally. Among them is windsurfer Noelle Doran from Mayo who, in December, set the world speed sailing record off the coast of Dungarvan at a staggering 35 knots.

The rising stars of sailing will also be recognised through the ISA Youth Sailor of the Year which is sponsored by Dun Loaghaire Harbour Company.  Although young, these sailors will be the sole focus in Dublin Bay this summer as the Four Star Pizza ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships comes to Dun Laoghaire for the first time in July. With 2012 set to be one of the most exciting years for watersports in Ireland, the ISA 6th Annual Awards Ball will be the perfect way to launch to the season.
