With the launch of the Phil Morrison designed Mark IV Version in 2008 the Wayfarer class has been revitalised and continues to go from strength to strength, 2010 was another incredible year for the class, 109 boats including 8 from Ireland took to the line in Weymouth last July to compete in the International championships and the cream on the cake arrived in March when the class was awarded the Yachts and Yachting Dinghy class of the year award at the Dinghy show in London.

This year the international interest continues with the Europeans taking place in Denmark, a mass International Cruising Rally taking place in Holland and the combined UK & Irish National Championships which will for the first time be taking place in Dun Laoghaire as part of the Dun Laoghaire regatta in July, so far there has been a lot of overseas interest in this event with entries coming from, Holland, Denmark, USA, UK and Northern Ireland with just two so far from the Southern Ireland. So time to pull off the covers and dust down the spinnaker and get your entry in before the early bird discount expires on may 2nd.

This is a great opportunity to mix it up with the big boys over from the UK racing circuit in such a rare event, it is not often that a UK & Irish National Championship combine and are held so close to home, so check out  www.DLregatta.org for further details and enter this great event now. Looking forward to seeing you on the water in Dun Laoghaire!
