Representing Ireland and Dun Laoghaire, Conor Clarke's Melges 24 IRL 607 "Embarr" will return to action for the US Nationals at Lake Geneva YC, Wisconsin in early October. 45 boats have entered so far so competition will be fierce.
Aboard "Embarr" will be four fifths of the same team that finished third overall in the World Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas in May. They are:
Nathan Wilmot - Helmsman
David Hughes - Tactician
Maurice O'Connell - Spi Trimmer
Conor Clarke - Pit
Bow girl Shona Wilmot will take the place of Maeve Judge who has re-located to New York and unfortunately is unavailable at the time of the championship.
Strong contenders for the event will be "Full Throttle" skippered by M24 supremo Brian Porter who pipped "Embarr" for second overall in the worlds in May.
Clarke, who is based in Jamaica, will be familiar to many readers having successfully campaigned his 1720 "Wow" for many years.
