About us:
Heir Island is situated in Roaringwater Bay amongst Carbery’s 100 Isles. It has safe sailing waters, wonderful sandy beaches, a coastline that is heaven for the adventurous. Heir Island Sailing School is a Training Centre approved by the Irish Sailing Association, the residential accommodation is approved by Failte Ireland. We are a niche school catering for a maximum of 21 mixed ability sailors at any one time. Dinghy courses up to Advanced Boat Handling, Adventure 2, Kites & Wires 1 Fleet :Topaz, Dublin Bay Mermaids, Heir Island Lobster Boat

Directions:
The Heir Island Ferry, M.V. THRESHER operates from Cunnamore Pier, please see Ferry Timetable for times on our website. If you are travelling by car from the east take the N 71 from Skibbereen towards Schull/Killarney in a westerly direction, after 6.5 kms there is a small Church of Ireland Church on the right hand side, immediately after it there is a turn to the left, fingerpost on the right indicates Hare Island (spelt correctly locally Heir) and Cunnamore Pier, on the left hand side there are two large local signs for Lough Marsh, follow signs to Cunnamore Pier/Hare Island, you will pass a school on the right after 4.5 km Lisheen Roman Catholic church after 5.5 km, Minihans Pub on the right after 6.2 km, continue straight at turn to Turk Head after 6.3 km, Whitehall house is on your left after 7.7 km, continue on with the sea on your left and you will arrive at Cunnamore Pier after 9.6 km, there is ample parking at the pier.
